43 Student Athletes Sign Scholarship Commitment Letters

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Forty-three Cherokee County School District student-athletes were recognized on Wednesday for signing scholarship commitment letters to compete at the college level.

These athletes join the 57 district students who were recognized in February as part of National Signing Day, for a total of 100 college-bound athletes recognized so far this year in the class of 2016.

Sponsored by Credit Union of Georgia and coordinated by district’s Office of School Operations, the ceremony and brunch held at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center in Canton honored the students, along with their parents, coaches, athletic directors and principals, for making their college choices to compete in a variety of sports.

Students were recognized for commitments to play baseball, basketball, football, golf, lacrosse, softball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, cross country, track, wrestling and steer roping (CCSD’s second student to earn a rodeo scholarship!). More than half of the students will be going out of state, with 28 of the 43 students attending colleges in 11 other states, as well as one foreign country: Canada.
