The 2014 Holiday Lights of Hope was a successful event in raising resources and awareness for the Anna Crawford Children’s Center, a non-profit organization that provides no cost services to children and families impacted by child abuse in Cherokee county.

Without generous support from the community, the Center couldn’t continue their mission.

The Cherokee High School Skills USA program has been a Holiday Lights of Hope partner since 2012 by working countless hours to build many of the event structures. We were ecstatic to extend the school partnership to the entire Cherokee County School District in 2014.

Each school had the opportunity to assist Holiday Lights of Hope by providing live entertainment during the event, volunteering their time and efforts, participating in Holiday Lights of Hope t-shirt sales, receiving a percentage of their school family’s gate fees and participating in the contest to receive $1,000 for being the school with the highest percentage of event attendees.

The Anna Crawford Children’s Center is happy to be able to give back a total of $3,783.28 to the participating schools in their efforts to support Holiday Lights of Hope. Macedonia Elementary had the highest percentage of event attendance and received the $1,000 award.

Seven schools provided entertainment during the Holiday Lights of Hope: Avery Elementary, Ball Ground Elementary STEM Academy, Clark Creek Elementary STEM Academy, Free Home Elementary, Macedonia Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary and Woodstock High School. Five schools participated in t-shirt sales: Avery Elementary, Ball Ground Elementary, Cherokee High School, Creekland Middle School, and Macedonia Elementary. Many members of the Creekland Middle School staff volunteered their time and efforts to help run the event one night.
