Applebee's Wants Sign Variance For New Outlet Mall Restaurant
The company's request will be heard on Monday by the Woodstock City Council.

The Woodstock City Council during its meeting on Monday will consider a sign variance request from Applebee’s for its new location under construction at 901 Ridgewalk Parkway.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Chambers at City Center.
Applebee’s is petitioning the city for a variance from its ordinance that prohibits internally illuminated canopy signs.

The restaurant would like to install an illuminated canopy sign above the primary entrance to the building. It also would like to install an internally illuminated “Carside To Go” sign on the southern facade facing the parking lot and the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, which would not be in compliance with the channel letter style mandated by the ordinance.
Council members will also consider a resolution requesting the Cherokee County legislative delegation to introduce local legislation granting the city’s Municipal Court jurisdiction over tickets written along I-575. Currently, Woodstock police officers who write tickets along the interstate under the city’s jurisdiction waste time and taxpayer dollars by traveling to Canton, as those tickets are currently processed through both State and Superior Court, the resolution states.

Another request the council will consider is to relocate part of an existing single-family home at 120 Dupree Road to 371 Arnold Mill Road, which is in unincorporated Cherokee County.
