Boating Safety Class Will Get You a Free Day Use Pass at Allatoona Lake

The Army Corps of Engineers is piloting a program to promote water and boating safety.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Allatoona Lake and Lake Sidney Lanier project offices, two of the most visited Corps lakes in the South Atlantic Division, are conducting a pilot program to promote water and boating safety.

Georgia residents age 18 or older who earn and provide a certificate from an authorized Safe Boating Class will receive a complimentary Corps annual day use pass, which would be valid for one year.

The approved list of courses can be obtained on the Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s website.

Complimentary annual day use passes will be issued Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at both the Allatoona Lake and Lake Lanier Project Management Offices. Passes will not be issued on weekends or holidays.

The original Safe Boating Certificate, dated and completed within the past year, along with a Georgia photo identification must be presented in person when obtaining a complimentary USACE annual day use pass.

Individuals will be required to sign a release form stating that they will not sell the complimentary pass. Lost or stolen passes will not be reissued without a new Safe Boating Class certificate.
