Main Street Reopens After Crews Put Out Brush Fire

The city of Woodstock said it's believed the fire was caused by a train.

UPDATE: Main Street is back open, the city of Woodstock said.


WOODSTOCK, GA — Woodstock Fire & Rescue crews are battling a brushfire that was discovered north of the downtown area.

The fire department, along with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Woodstock Police Department, responded to a call around noon on Thursday reporting about a half-acre of land had been torched in the fire, city spokesperson Brittany Page said.

Main Street between the Haney Road roundabout and Ridgewalk Parkway is closed so crews can work to put out the blaze.

No structures have been affected, no injuries were reported, and the fire has been contained. Page said that while investigation is ongoing, the brushfire is believed to have been started by a train.
