Canton Man Charged With Trafficking Meth
A Georgia state trooper had to use his TASER on the driver after he tried to flee a traffic stop on Interstate 575 in Ball Ground.

BALL GROUND, GA — A routine traffic stop a Georgia state trooper attempted to perform on Interstate 575 in Ball Ground led to the arrest of a man accused of trafficking a large amount of methamphetamine.
The trooper tried to pull over a 2017 Toyota Camry around 6:21 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 for a traffic violation on the northbound side of the interstate in Ball Ground. The driver refused to stop and tried to elude the trooper, who had to perform the P.I.T. maneuver on the Camry, said Georgia State Patrol Post 28 Commander SFC Tim Nichols.
Nichols said the maneuver caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and he tried to flee the scene on foot, "but was apprehended after the trooper deployed his TASER on the suspect."

A search of the vehicle unearthed suspected methamphetamine, so the troopers called in the Cherokee Multi Agency Narcotics Squad to assist with the case, Nichols told Patch. CMANS Commander Phil Price said the driver, identified as Robert Austin Miller of Canton, had just over an ounce of meth in the car.
Jail records show Miller was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances, felony fleeing and attempting to elude police, weaving over roadway, reckless driving, operating with suspended license, no license on person while operating vehicle and failure to signal when changing lanes.
