CCFES Chiefs Receive Fire Officer Certification

From Cherokee FD: Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Assistant Fire Chief, Eddie Robinson, and Field Operations Chief, Shane West, recently received their Chief Fire Officer Certification at the joint conference of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia State Firefighter Association that was held the week of August 15th, in Dalton, Georgia.

In order for an applicant to receive the certification, they must meet four pre- requisites. The certification is earned based on a points system reflecting a combination of education, experience and years of service. Cherokee County Fire Chief, Tim Prather, presented a Letter of Commendation to the chiefs for their accomplishment yesterday at fire headquarters. According to Prather, “You are among the first in the Chief Officer ranks of Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services to obtain this achievement. You have demonstrated the professionalism and dedication it takes to continue pursuit of a very successful career. Through your dedicated efforts, you have set the example for other officers in this organization to follow as well….to include myself.”

Cherokee County Battalion Chief, Ryan McElwee, received his Fire Chief Certification back on April 10 th of this year. Along with Robinson and West, these individuals become the first three to receive their Chief Fire Officer and Fire Chief certifications in the department. “It is our goal to eventually have all the chief officers certified in our fire department,” added Prather.
