Chattahoochee Gold Swimmers Bound for Olympic Trials

The U.S. Olympic Swim Trials are considered the fastest swim meet on the planet, even faster than the Olympics.

Five swimmers from the Chattahoochee Gold swim team are excited to be heading for Omaha, Nebraska for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials. The event is the only selection meet for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Leading the group is Lauren Case, a senior at Woodstock High School. Lauren has qualifying times to compete in 100 & 200 Butterfly and 100, 200 & 400 Freestyle. This is Lauren's second trials meet; this time around she’s gunning to make the top 16 and qualify for second swims.

Emma Cole will compete in 100 & 200 Freestyle. Emma is a senior at Walton High School in East Cobb and achieved her first qualifying times this past year.

At the Olympic Trials four years ago, Michael Arnold was 17th in the 50 Free, missing out on the finals by one spot. Since then he has trained (while holding down a full time job and life outside the pool) to continue his Olympic quest. He'll compete in 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly.

Lisa Arnold is Michael’s wife and she’ll be making her second trip to Olympic Trials as well, her first was in 2008. Lisa was an All American at UGA and has trained alongside Michael the last few years. She'll compete in 100 Butterfly.

Alarii Levreault-Lopez is swimming the 200 Butterfly at the Olympic Trials. Alarii graduated from Woodstock High School and this past year swam for LSU.

These five swimmers will be accompanied by Gold Owner & Head Coach Pat Murphy and Coach Falco Fleischmann. Gold Coach Mark Schilling says, “We are extremely excited to be sending a group of Gold swimmers to Omaha this quadrennial as it is a huge honor to just achieve the times for the meet. Four years ago we had many swimmers make the qualifying times and attend but no swimmers advance out of the prelim sessions. This time around we fully anticipate to have at least one or two of our swimmers make it back to semi-finals and then finals. It will be great for our team and the community to be able to see that Chattahoochee Gold cap live on primetime TV during the event!”

The Olympic Swim Trials take place at the Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska from June 26th to July 3rd, evening portions broadcast live on NBC.
