Cherokee Cities To Compete In Annual Recycling Competition
The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Going Green Committee initiative is aimed at sparking continued awareness surrounding community recycling.
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — The 8th annual Mayors’ Recycling Challenge will kick-off in Cherokee County this Saturday, June 1. This Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Going Green Committee initiative is aimed at sparking continued awareness surrounding community recycling while spurring a little friendly competition among the cities involved.
During the months of June and July, Cherokee County cities will be competing to see which can win the awards for most recycling per capita and most improved city based upon 2018 collection totals.
A variety of sanitation services are partnering with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce on this initiative by tracking curbside and large recycling container weigh slips within the participating cities. Ball Ground, Holly Springs, Waleska, & Woodstock will be collected by the following Chamber Member sanitation services: Cycle Works Sanitation & Recycling, Santek Waste Services of Georgia, and Waste Management, and Canton will be collected by Advanced Disposal.
