Cherokee County Wins Excellence In Youth Sports Award

Woodstock, GA -- The Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency has received the Excellence in Youth Sports Award from the National Alliance For Youth Sports, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and resources to improve youth sports programs across the country.

The Excellence Award Committee, comprised of NAYS and Athletic Business magazine staff, is tasked with reviewing applications.
The applications are judged on several criteria, including what the organization does to educate their administrators, volunteer coaches, game officials and parents and how well they demonstrate that they embrace a child-centered recreational sports philosophy.

In 2014, Cherokee County qualified as a finalist and was recognized with Honorable Mention. Building upon that success, the county in 2015 was awarded the Excellence in Youth Sports Award, making it the the sixth agency in Georgia to win the award.
“This award is an indication of the hard work and dedication of our staff, our partners and our many volunteers to provide superior service and enhance the quality of life for our community through excellent youth sport opportunities,” Agency Director Bryan Reynolds said.
The National Alliance for Youth Sports also promotes the value and importance of sports and physical activity in the emotional, physical, social and mental development of children.
