Cherokee Sheriff's Office, Fire Department Donate Funds To Charities

Both agencies raised money as part of the 11th annual Guns & Hoses 5K hosted by the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Cherokee County's firefighters and sheriff's deputies recently came together to raise money for local groups that give back to less fortunate residents.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the Cherokee Sheriff's Office raised funds for their chosen organizations as part of the 11th annual Guns & Hoses 5K.

Cherokee fire presented Goshen Valley Boys Ranch with $3,840 while the sheriff's office donated $3,000 to the Anna Crawford Children’s Center.

The money was raised as part of the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency’s annual charity race, which was held in February at Hobgood Park.

The Anna Crawford Children's Center is community-based organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect while protecting and serving children and families.

Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, based in Waleska, provides a home for local boys ages 11 to 18 who are in the state's foster care system.
