Christians Behaving Badly
"Christian" Soup Kitchen Turns Away "Atheist" Help. Is this how Christians are supposed to conduct themselves?
Recently, in South Carolina, a faith-based soup kitchen that helps feed homeless people denied an atheist group the opportunity to come and help serve. Article here.
In my mind this is a travesty. Why would a Christian NOT only allow but DESIRE the opportunity to work side by side with them. The common ground has been established (helping the poor) and who knows what could have come from the interaction and cooperation.
This, in my opinion, is a clear case of Christians Behaving Badly (CBB). A missed opportunity, a potential to do good unfulfilled. These kinds of incidents of CBB only serve to deepen and widen the chasm between us and those who don't believe, when we should be working to close the gap. God help us all.

I do not take pleasure in writing a negative article about those who share my faith. I will not make a habit of it, but I point this particular incident out as an acknowledgement of fault, not in the Christian worldview, but in the human element of Christianity (which of course is to be expected, given the worldview). And, in all fairness I have taken the article as written at face value. I am willing to allow that there may be more reason that what we were given, in the article, for this organization to exclude that organization from participation.
A note to Atheists (and Buddhists, and Muslims, and Hindus, and those of any other faith); in my estimation and experience this type of exclusion is not indicative of the Christian faith (although I fully acknowledge that it does happen).

A note to Christians: remember who you are without the grace of an almighty God and without the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." And, finally, remember your mission.
A note to all: MUST Ministries, in the Cobb and Cherokee county areas, is Christian-faith based, and non-discriminatory. If you have a heart to serve the poor and needy, they will find a way for you to do so. I thank them for the opportunity for allowing me to do just that.
