Here are the top 5 stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- The Cherokee County elections department will conduct an audit early next month to hand count ballots cast in the May 24 primary and June 21 runoff elections. Cherokee County Elections Director Anne Dover says the audit will encourage citizen participation by enabling them to observe the audit. The audit will be open to the public and is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. at the Albert Stone Elections Building in Canton. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
- The Woodstock City Council approved new variances for a five-story, mixed-use building in a 4-1 vote on Monday. The "Flatiron Building" will include 4,500 square feet of commercial space and 19 condominium units on a 0.42-acre wedge parcel. The council approved the variances with several conditions, including guidelines for common spaces and outdoor amplified sound. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)

- If you and the family are looking for something fun to do this weekend, head over to the Woodstock Public Library for one of its two Saturday afternoon Sand Art Creation sessions! At 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Jun. 25, kids ages 10 and older (and their parents or guardians) can stop by the library to make a rainbow sand bottle as a fun summer keepsake. Light refreshments will be available. Interested parties should register by contacting the Library via Facebook. (Sequoyah Regional Library System)

Are you a Woodstock-Towne Lake resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
