Brother Charged With Murder In Woodstock Woman's Death

Karen Twilley was found dead outside of her home Wednesday morning.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- The brother of the woman who was found dead outside her home earlier this week has been charged with his sister's murder.

Joseph Felton Twilley was booked in to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Friday on charges of murder and theft of a motor vehicle, sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said.

Deputies with the agency had been searching for Felton for two days following the death of his sister, 58-year-old Karen Twilley, whose body was found early Wednesday morning outside her home on Pine Circle near Allatoona Lake in Woodstock.

The vehicle reported stolen from home Twilley shared with her 86-year-old mother was seen around 9:40 a.m. Friday near Old Rope Mill Road in Woodstock.

Woodstock police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and Joseph Twilley was taken into custody without incident.

The 54-year-old man was identified by investigators as a person of interest in his sister's death, the manner of which was ruled to have been a homicide, according to an autopsy. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Joseph Twilley remains held without bond at the jail.
