CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — The Cherokee County Meals on Wheels Program received a financial boost thanks to funds raised at a charity disc golf tournament.

Cherokee County Senior Services, Trainhopper Disc Golf and Stand Up For Seniors, formerly known as the Volunteer Aging Council, recently partnered to host the 21st Annual Cold Snake Classic Disc Golf Tournament to raise funds for Cherokee County’s Meals on Wheels program. The tournament was held at Sequoyah Park on Dec. 12 and 13 and drew 143 players from across the state. All proceeds from the event went to benefit Stand Up For Seniors, which supports the county’s Meals on Wheels program and other programs for local seniors. Tournament Director Mark Sheldon recently presented a check for $5,500 to the organization from funds raised at the event.

“We are grateful for this donation and thank all of those who participated in the event,” Cherokee County Senior Services Director Tim Morris said in a news release. “I would like to recognize The Sequoyah Snakes as the presenting sponsor along with Diamond Sponsors CDJR of Woodstock, S&S Flooring, Out of the Grey Wellness and Towne Lake Dental Group for their contribution in making this event successful. A very special thank you goes out to Cherokee Recreation and Parks for allowing us to host the tournament at Sequoyah Park.”
