Driver Safe After Tractor-Trailer Catches Fire In Cherokee County
The fire caused the interstate's southbound lanes to be shut down for around three-and-a-half hours.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The driver of a burning tractor-trailer was able to escape around midnight Thursday on Interstate 75 southbound at Highway 92, according to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Friday.
Fire officials said there were no injuries in the fire, which closed the interstate's southbound lanes for around three-and-a-half hours.
The tractor-trailer was carrying a shipment of bagels at the time. The fully-involved fire spread to the truck's trailer, fire officials said.

Large amounts of diesel spilled at the scene, fire officials said. A haz-mat team dug an embankment around the fuel that had leaked onto the highway's shoulder, fire officials said.
More than 6,000 gallons of water and 10 gallons of foam were utilized to extinguish the fire, officials said.

The fire was under control by 3 a.m., fire officials said.
Cobb County fire crews, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Transportation's HERO Unit provided assistance.
