Early Voting Starts July 2 For Primary Runoff Election
While there are no local races on the July 24 runoff ballot, Cherokee County voters can cast ballots in a few statewide races.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Early voting for the July 24 primary runoff election will begin next week in Cherokee County. Residents will be able to cast ballots ahead of Election Day beginning Monday, July 2.
Early voting dates and times are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 2-3 and July 5-6 at the Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration Office at 400 E. Main Street in downtown Canton. You should note that no early voting will be held Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
Early voting continues 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 9-13 and July 16-20, at the elections office. Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 for the runoff election, and voters must cast ballots at their assigned precincts.

A few notable statewide races are on the ballot in the Republican primary runoff. Brian Kemp and Casey Cagle are vying to become the Republican who will go head-to-head against Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams in the race for governor. In the race for lieutenant governor, either Geoff Duncan or David Shaffer will win the Republican primary runoff to face off with Democrat Sarah Amico in that race.

Republican voters will also choose between David Belle Isle and Brad Raffensperger to face John Barrow, a Democrat, for Secretary of State. Democratic voters will choose between Otha Thornton Jr. and Sid Chapman to face incumbent Republican State School Superintendent Richard Woods. The general election for these races will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
