Elderly Man Dies From Injuries In Cherokee House Fire

The fire was reported Saturday evening on North Briar Ridge in Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK, GA — An elderly resident has died from injuries he sustained in a house fire reported over the weekend in Cherokee County.

Firefighters with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the fire Saturday evening in the 200 block of North Briar Ridge, which is located off Bells Ferry Road near Woodstock's Towne Lake community.

Cherokee 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call around 11 p.m. and fire units responded to the scene to find the house about 40 percent involved.

The occupants of the home included two elderly couples and a five-year-old child, Cherokee County fire said in a press release. The couples were transported to area hospitals for treatment while the child did not suffer any injuries.

Cherokee fire spokesperson Tim Cavender said the agency has since learned the 76-year-old man succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been released at this time.
