Elm Street to Host 'Art on the Green' in Woodstock

'Art on The Green 2016' is free to the public and will be held on August 27. Registration is needed for some activities.

What do you call a day that begins with a 5K color run, merges into a green filled with artists and craftspeople showing their wares, and continues with live music, chef presentations, art classes, pop-up Pokemon Go lures, food trucks and beer? You call it Art on The Green 2016!

“We are very excited about this year’s Art on the Green,” says Christopher Brazelton (Elm Street Executive Director), “Over thirty artists from around Metro Atlanta and a number of our community partners have joined us to make this day the best yet.” The Presenting Partner is PDH Systems. “I think what makes the day special is that the intent has always been celebrating the community and the vibrancy – in that we find that more of the community wanting to participate every year and it molds the festival every year.”

Art on the Green provides a great occasion to experience the work of musicians, visual artists, craftsmen and some of the best culinary restaurants in the region. Visitors will also have an opportunity to view the plans for the update of the historic Reeves House, which is to become a permanent space for art and artists in our community.

The event is free to the public and will be held on the Green, adjacent to the location of the Saturday Farmers’ Market (which runs from 7:30 am -12:30 pm).

“Everything comes together at this event to create something that’s greater than the sum of its parts,” says Rebecca Blackwell a dedicated Visionary (volunteer) of Elm Street, “It is not just the artists contributing to the day. Reformation shares their craft, Chef David from Reel Seafood shares his culinary art, musicians from our city share their poetry, even those in attendance contribute to collaborative art throughout the day. At Art on the Green everyone comes together to create a vibrant expression of art and culture… everything comes together and a whole a new pulse is created.”
