Elm Street Presents New Spin On Timeless Classic

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Next week, a slew of knights and ladies, wizards and dragons will take the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village's stage along with the renowned character of King Arthur. 

Written by Siobhan Brumbelow, "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round" is a new take on the enchanting and timeless legend. The show runs at 10 a.m. Wednesdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, June 8-22. 

Follow Arthur’s story from the beginning (when he pulls the legendary sword from the stone), to the creation of the Knights of the Round and join him on his quests, including the majestic quest for the Holy Grail. The show is sure to engage audiences young and old, and demonstrates how a kind heart and teamwork help to create a kingdom of idyllic happiness.

“The Arthur legends are very rich and varied," Brumbelow said. "I’ve worked to develop a script that is simultaneously fresh and true to some of the older legends." 

The show is directed by Kristen Storla, who may be familiar to many in the Woodstock area from her previous work as a lead senior teacher at Elm Street Cultural Arts Village and for appearances in "Seussical," "You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "Fiddler on the Roof." 

More recently, Storla has worked with Atlanta Shakespeare Company and The Center for Puppetry Arts.

“Kristen was the logical choice to direct this,” Brumbelow added. “She did the choreography for the stage combat in Rapunzel and demonstrated her skills. I expect we will see some marvelous jousts and swordplay in 'King Arthur and the Knights of the Round'."

The production will be held at the Chambers at City Center, which is located at 8534 Main Street. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and can be purchased here.
