Fire Destroys Home In Southwest Cherokee County
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services extinguished a fire this morning at a home off Valley Hill Drive. All occupants were unharmed.
ACWORTH, GA -- A couple and their dog escaped a fire this morning in Southwest Cherokee County that gutted their home.
Cherokee County 911 received a call from the occupant of the home who said hishouse, which the couple was leasing, was on fire. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services arrived this morning at 11:15 at a home at 2707 Valley Hill Drive, off Highway 92, going toward Acworth.
Cherokee County firefighters arrived four minutes later to find heavy flames coming from the 2-story house. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control. However, the house received extensive damage, especially to the center of the structure which was completely gutted.

"The occupant, his wife and a dog were able to get out without any injuries," Battalion Chief, Kevin Lanier said in a release.
Both lanes on Valley Hill Drive were blocked until the fire was extinguished.

Cherokee County Fire Investigators arrived on the scene to determine a cause, which has not been released yet.
