Fire Destroys Mobile Home, Sends Woman To Hospital

The fire occurred late Sunday morning at the Eastgate Mobile Home Community near Woodstock.

ACWORTH, GA — A 54-year-old woman was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire destroyed a mobile home late Sunday morning in Cherokee County. Firefighters with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the call of the fire around 11 a.m. at the Eastgate Mobile Home Community at 6310 Bells Ferry Road.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Battalion Chief Kevin Lanier said the female resident was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Her husband, her son and his girlfriend were also inside the mobile home, but were able to escape the blaze without sustaining any injuries.

One cat that was inside the mobile home was taken to a veterinarian for treatment. However, another cat that was inside the home has not been located. The American Red Cross has been called in to assist the family, and the fire department continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
