Fire Possibly Caused By Cigarette Destroys Trailer
Both Woodstock Fire and Rescue and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the fire on Wiley Bridge Road.
A trailer received “extensive” fire, smoke and water damage Thursday afternoon in southeast Cherokee County, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said in a press release.
Crews from both Woodstock Fire and Rescue and Cherokee County both responded to a call around 1:40 p.m. Jan. 29 of a structure fire at 987 Wiley Bridge Road, which sits off Highway 92 east of Woodstock.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find about 50 percent of a single wide mobile home engulfed with flames, Cherokee fire spokesperson Tim Cavender said.

Cavender said the homeowner, 34-year-old Jeremy Hawkins, told fire authorities he “placed a cigarette that he thought was out into a garbage can.”
“He went out to his truck and moments later he noticed smoke coming out of his front door,” Cavender added.
