Former Substitute Teacher Indicted On Child Sex Charges
Laura Rich of Woodstock is accused of having sex with two students who attended ACE Academy.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A former substitute teacher for the Cherokee County School District has been indicted on charges she had sex with two students. A Cherokee County grand jury indicted Laura Rich last week on three counts of sexual assault of a student, court records show.
Rich, a Woodstock resident, was arrested Sept. 23, 2016, by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and initially charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation and determined Rich allegedly "had sex with a 16-year-old student in early 2015 and then had sex with an 18-year-old student in late 2015," the agency previously told Patch (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Both alleged encounters took place in Rich's former home in the southwest Cherokee County portion of Acworth, the sheriff's office added. According to the indictment, the students were enrolled at ACE Academy where Rich formerly worked as a substitute teacher. The indictment also indicates she allegedly had two sexual encounters with one of the students.
