GDOT Seeks Input On Industrial Connector Project in Holly Springs
A public information open house will be held Aug. 8 at the Holly Springs Depot.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation will host a public information open house to plans to tackle congestion in the heart of Holly Springs. The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at the Holly Springs Depot at 164 Hickory Road.
Cherokee County residents interested in learning more about the proposed Industrial Connector Project are encouraged to attend the meeting.
“We would like to hear the viewpoints and concerns of all area residents," says DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.

The Industrial Connector Project is a proposed bypass from Hickory Road near Hickory Springs Industrial Park across P. Rickman Industrial Drive to Holly Springs Parkway near Exit 14 on I-575, said Holly Springs City Manager Rob Logan. GDOT and the city are requesting public input on the proposed route of the roadway, he added.
The open house will provide an opportunity to identify the environmental resources and a concept for the project, which is designed to mitigate congestion issues in downtown Holly Springs near the intersection of Hickory Road and Holly Springs Parkway, improve operation and enhance safety in the area.

Comer added the state believes that since the connector would serve the residents of Holly Springs and Cherokee County, "the ideas and preferences of these people are important and can make a difference in our planning process."
The open house will be informal and the public is invited to attend anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. The meeting site is accessible to persons with disabilities. Accommodations for people with disabilities can be arranged with advance notice by calling the city of Holly Springs at (770) 345-5536.
Written statements will be accepted concerning this project until Tuesday, Aug. 22 and can be submitted to:
