Gold’s Michelle McCord Commits to Fighting Illini

Chattahoochee Gold's Michelle McCord will swim for the University of Illinois starting in 2017-2018

Michelle McCord is a senior at Creekview High School where she swam for the Grizzlies at the 2017 Georgia State Swimming and Diving Championships for 6A/7A Schools last weekend, finishing third in 200 IM (setting a Cherokee County record) and sixth in 100 Breast.

She told Swim Swam, “I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study engineering at the University of Illinois for the next four years! I chose Illinois because of the academics and the athletics both being so good. I can’t wait to be a Fighting Illini next year!”

Michelle's coach at Chattahoochee Gold, Mark Schilling said, “I am overjoyed about Michelle’s choice in colleges. She is such a hard worker and student of the sport that she will do amazing when she gets to Illinois.”
