Gold Swimmer Commits to UNC Asheville

Founded in 1992, Chattahoochee Gold is a USA Swimming year-round swim club and one of the first in the nation awarded a Level 4 status.

Katie Brown, a standout swimmer for the Chattahoochee Gold club team has committed to swim for the UNC Asheville Bulldogs.

Katie was one of the captains of Gold’s Senior & National group at the team’s Woodstock pool for the past two years.

“I am so thankful that I have been a part of the Chattahoochee Gold family, and I will always cherish the past seven years I’ve spent on the team. Our team is incredibly lucky to have such a phenomenal coaching staff. I have had the honor of swimming under Coach Falco Fleischmann…a wonderful coach and mentor to me, and I owe much of my success as a swimmer to him.

I love my teammates; it was a tremendous privilege to train with such an amazing and talented group of kids.

It’s hard to choose just one, but my best memory of swimming for Gold was when I qualified for Senior Sectionals my senior year.”

Katie is graduating from River Ridge High School where she was captain of the swim team her senior year, qualified for the high school state meet for four years and was a three-time MVP.

She’s excited about her next chapter.

“UNC Asheville was the perfect fit for me. The academics are amazing, and the campus is absolutely beautiful. I plan on majoring in biology with a concentration in cellular and molecular biology.”

Katie plans to swim the 100 & 200 backstroke and the 100 Butterfly for the Bulldogs.

“I love the team atmosphere more than anything; the girls are so energetic, hardworking and passionate about what they do. They represent everything a college team should be. I’m honored to be their teammate and I can’t wait to swim with them next season.”
