Habitat Receives $100,000 Grant From The UPS Foundation

Habitat For Humanity - North Central Georgia will partner with The UPS Foundation to build a home in Cherokee County

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Habitat North Central Georgia received a $100,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS).

The grant will help fund the construction of a Habitat home in Cherokee County that is due to start in May.

In accepting the funds, Russ Hayes, Habitat’s CEO, said: “We are extremely grateful for The UPS Foundation’s decade of support of our ministry and mission. This $100,000 grant will fund the construction of UPS’s 12th Habitat home and will bring The UPS Foundation’s total gifts to Habitat North Central Georgia to well over $1,000,000. We thank too, the anticipated 250 employees of UPS who will volunteer an estimated 1,500 to 1,750 hours to help build what will be Habitat’s 294th home. The UPS Foundation and UPS have been wonderful partners as we strive together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

About Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia

Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds affordable homes for purchase by low- to moderate-income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 290 homes serving over 1,150 family members in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth/Dawson counties. Each family is required to attend six educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30% and 60% of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which finances the purchase with a 30-year, no-interest loan. In addition to new home construction, Habitat-North Central Georgia started a home repair program in 2014. To date, 29 repair projects have been completed serving veterans and seniors. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, the ministry also operates a ReStore, selling new and gently used building materials, furniture, and household goods, in Roswell.
