Hancock Claims Builds Habitat Home in Woodstock

Hancock Claims sponsors Habitat family and provides the funds and volunteer labor to build their home.

Recently, Habitat North Central Georgia held a first nail ceremony for the Cung-Sin family whose home is being built on Reece Road in Woodstock. This will be the second of two homes being built on this street.

On this home, Habitat is partnering with Za Biak Cung and his wife, Sui Sin. The couple is originally from Burma where they fled because of religious persecution. They immigrated to the United States in 2014 with assistance from the United Nations Refugee program. Mr. Cung has been working at Tyson for the last two years. Mrs. Sin is a stay at home mother who cares for their two young children, Jonathan (3) and Esther (1).

“This home is a blessing for me and my family,” said Mr. Cung. “We can’t believe that we will soon have a home where we can raise our children. We are so thankful to Hancock Claims for everything they are doing for us.”

The Cung-Sin family’s home is being sponsored by Hancock Claims, the premier national ladder assist company. The company started out in 2003 providing contracting services in Atlanta. In 2004, Hancock Claims began a pilot program, assisting insurance carriers and providing higher and steeper access for storm damage assessments. By 2008, the company focused primarily on services to meet the specialized needs of the insurance industry. Hancock Claims consultants are located all over the United States in areas historically affected by storms. Habitat North Central Georgia is excited to have Hancock Claims as a new home sponsor. The company will provide many of the volunteers needed to build the Cung-Sin family’s home which is due to be completed in March of 2017.

“We are so fortunate to have Hancock Claims as a new home sponsor this year,” said Jennifer Garrard, Habitat Director of Resource Development. “This company is about giving back to the community and making a difference in people’s lives.”

About Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia

Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent homes for purchase by low- to moderate-income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 286 homes serving over 1075 family members in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth/Dawson counties. Each family is required to attend 6 educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30% and 60% of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which provides them with a 30-year, no-interest loan. Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. These families not only get to experience the pride of homeownership but they also know that their lives will be changed forever. In addition to new home construction, Habitat North Central Georgia started a home repair program in 2014. To date, 20 repair projects have been completed serving veterans and seniors.
