Hancock Claims Builds Habitat Home in Woodstock
Habitat North Central Georgia partners with Hancock Claims to build home in Woodstock.
On Saturday, Hancock Claims Consultants and Rockin' Taco celebrated the completion of the Habitat home the two companies sponsored for the Cung-Sin family. It was their first full house sponsorship with Habitat North Central Georgia that culminated in a very emotional dedication ceremony for all who attended. The home is located on Reece Road and was the second to be completed in the last two weeks on this street in Woodstock.
After composing herself several times to control her emotions and fight back tears, Sui Sin offered the following words: "On behalf of my family, I will say a little word of thanks. First and foremost, I thank God, who blessed my family: bringing us to the USA, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, from Burma, one of the poorest countries in the world. I would like to say my heartfelt thanks to Habitat and all the members of Hancock for your love, your kindness, and your help. Our family is praising God for He will bless us with this beautiful house through you and your ministry. We will pray for all of you. Thank you so much.”
On this home, Habitat partnered with Za Biak Cung and his wife, Sui Sin. The couple experienced a long and arduous journey from poverty and religious persecution in their native Burma, to a refugee camp in Malaysia, to a rundown apartment in Clarkston, to the sanctuary of their new abode in Woodstock. The family immigrated to the United States in 2014 with assistance from the United Nations Refugee program. Mr. Cung has been working at Tyson for the last three years. Mrs. Sin is a stay at home mother who cares for their two young children, Jonathan (3) and Esther (1).

Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent homes for purchase by low- to moderate-income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 289 homes serving over 1075 family members in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth/Dawson counties. Each family is required to attend six educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30% and 60% of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which provides them with a 30-year, no-interest loan. Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. These families not only get to experience the pride of homeownership but they also know that their lives will be changed forever. In addition to new home construction, Habitat North Central Georgia started a home repair program in 2014. To date, 27 repair projects have been completed serving veterans and seniors.
