  1. Two students from Cherokee County have been awarded the 2022 Burger King Foundation Scholarship. Woodstock High School graduate Laila Edwards and River Ridge High School graduate Malaika Holmes both received $2,000 through the scholarship program, which rewards students for their grade point averages, community service, and leadership. Edwards and Holmes were two of the 213 winners to receive this year's prize. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
  2. Local police responded to a crash on eastbound Highway 92 at Trickum Road yesterday. According to Triple Team Traffic, the incident occurred early Monday morning, blocking the highway's left lane. The incident caused traffic delays in Woodstock throughout the day.   3. A teenager in Cherokee County was arrested last week on human trafficking charges. Officers with the Canton Police Department apprehended the female suspect last Wednesday morning during a traffic stop on North Street after she was spotted driving while using a cell phone. A 13-year-old female passenger also in the vehicle was determined to be a victim of human trafficking and kidnapping, and detectives determined the driver was in the process of transporting her to another state.   4. The Woodstock Police Department is accepting applications for new officers. Certified Officers start with a base salary of $44,800 annually and may earn more based on experience and certifications. Officers also receive additional employee benefits including a take-home vehicle program, free gym memberships, and an employer-paid pension. (City of Woodstock)
