Man, 63, Charged With Attempted Child Molestation

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A Gilmer County resident has been arrested and charged with allegedly trying to arrange a meeting with a child for sexual purposes.

Investigators have charged Jerry Lee Ledford, 63, of Ellijay with criminal attempt to commit child molestation, criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and other computer-related crimes, the Woodstock Police Department said.
As a result of a "proactive, undercover investigation" coordinated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Woodstock detectives assigned to the Task Force arrested Ledford after he traveled to the area with the intent of meeting a child for sex, the police department added.

Jerry Lee Ledford was booked in Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Feb. 29 where he remains, the agency added.
