The man allegedly made the confession to an officer working traffic outside First Baptist Church of Woodstock on Sunday.

WOODSTOCK -- A Cherokee County resident has been arrested for killing his stepson.
Carl Lewis is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Joshua Watkins.
Watkins said Lewis approached officers with the Woodstock Police Department, who were working traffic flowing to and from First Baptist Church of Woodstock, and confessed to the incident on Sunday.

Lewis allegedly told the officers the crime took place in the 500 block of Mirramont Place, "and did not know if the son was still alive," Watkins said.
Mirramont Place sits off Bells Ferry Road between Towne Lake Parkway and Eagle Drive. Woodstock police notified Cherokee County 911 and the sheriff's office, and deputies were dispatched to the scene.

Once they arrived at the home, those deputies were assisted by Cherokee County firefighters in opening a window to get inside the house. Once inside, they discovered the body of Bryce McCallum, 19, of Woodstock lying in a chair in the living room area with a gunshot to the head, Watkins added.
McCallum was pronounced dead at the scene. Lewis was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center where he's being held without bond.
