Man Charged With Trafficking Heroin in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Narcotics agents have arrested a Roswell man accused of trafficking drugs in southern Cherokee County.

Agents with the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, or CMANS, arrested 29-year-old Roswell resident Michael Ray Voulopos and charged him with trafficking heroin in Woodstock.

Voulopos was arrested for possession of 5 grams of heroin when he was nabbed Thursday, Feb 25. in the parking lot of Sam’s Club on Highway 92 in Woodstock, said CMANS Commander Phil Price.

“We made a couple of undercover buys from him, and he will be charged with sale of heroin and trafficking heroin,“ he added.

After Voulopos was taken into custody, CMANS agents provided information to the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Narcotics task force, which led to officers executing a search warrant on Voulopos’ motel room in Cobb County.

That search unearthed an additional 10 grams of heroin, CMANS said.

Voulopos remains in custody without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, said Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.

The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations. Participating agencies include the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, Canton Police Department, Woodstock Police Department, Holly Springs Police Department, Ball Ground Police Department, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol.
