Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant
Escape for an evening with your women friends and some really good food.

Do you have a circle of women friends to whom you can turn when you need an escape? I do! have seen me through the best and worst of times. They know my flaws but manage to look past all that and surround me with friendship and support. Hopefully, I do the same for them.
I love getting together with one or more of my friends at least once a week. We typically gather on an impromptu basis, and food is always involved. But only restaurant food. After all, if we cook, we’re not really escaping, right?
Our absolute favorite place to gather, bar none, is Mi Casa, a family-owned Mexican restaurant located on Highway 92, one half mile west of I-575 in the Shoppes of Woodstock Shopping Center.

What about Mi Casa makes it our perfect Great Escape? Well, after years of frequenting this particular restaurant, we share memories of many fun-filled meals together. Mi Casa simply feels like home to us. And General Manager Rigo Aguirre and his staff go out of their way to make us feel like part of their family from the moment we walk through the door.
Let’s face it, escaping into familiar surroundings with people you know well can be just as rewarding as taking on a new destination or experience. Familiarity grounds us, especially when we are worn out from the day’s frenzy. Great escapes are all about taking time for yourself and putting aside – even if for two hours - your responsibilities as a parent, careerist or other roles that consume you over time.

Besides, Mi Casa serves the best margaritas in Woodstock.
The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Start with a frozen margarita and the Guacamole a la Mexicana Dip served with Rigo’s homemade tortilla chips. The dip is more like a scoopable salad – a pico de gallo with huge slices of fresh avocado mixed in. Then try the plate of three soft tacos for $6.50, with your choice of meat. Or order my personal favorite, the Pollo Special for $9.50. It’s a grilled chicken fillet with mushrooms and cheese, served with rice, lettuce, guacamole, tomato and flour or corn tortillas. I don’t know what Rigo uses to season the chicken, but it is the best.
What you order really doesn’t matter as much as the experience. Just grab a gal pal or two and head to Mi Casa for a casual evening with lots of laughter and pampering from the restaurant staff. No serious conversations allowed.
Tell Rigo that Dee sent you. Or maybe you’ll see me cutting up at a nearby table with Ashley, the Judys and Michelle. Don’t even think about leaving without coming by to say hello!
