Missing Man With Alzheimer's Disease Found in Woods

A 62-year-old resident reported missing Sunday evening in southwest Cherokee County has been found safe.

Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office launched a search for Steven Pendergast of Dallas, who was originally last seen around 6:30 p.m. May 24 around the Payne Campground area off Kellogg Creek Road, Lt. Jay Baker said.
Pendergast, who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia, was found a few hours later in the woods near a Boy Scout camp off Kellogg Creek Road, Baker said.

Pendergast was checked out by paramedics and returned to his family.
