Open House Set To Replace Bells Ferry Bridge Over Allatoona
One project would widen the bridge while another would widen Bells Ferry Road between Southfork Way and Victoria Road in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK, GA — The Georgia Department of Transportation and Cherokee County will team up to host a public information open house on two projects that would improve the Bells Ferry Road corridor. The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Boston Elementary School at 105 Othello Drive in Woodstock.
The first project would replace and widen the Bells Ferry Road bridge over Little River/Allatoona Lake. This project has been on the minds of many Cherokee County elected officials stakeholders for several years, as Cherokee County School District buses do not use the bridge to transport students to and from school. This detour forces these buses to either use Sixes Road or Towne Lake Parkway as alternative routes.
The second project would widen and rebuild Bells Ferry Road between Southfork Way and Victoria Road. The two-lane roadway would be widened to a four-lanes with a raised median. Construction of the project may require short-term (up to one month) detours of traffic on Bells Ferry Road between Victoria Road and North Victoria Road and on Surrey Drive at the intersection with Bells Ferry Road.

The purpose of this open house is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed projects and possible detours, ask questions, and to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the projects and the proposed detour.
Please note that the open house will be informal, and attendees can drop in at any time during the two-hour period. There will be no formal presentation. A court reporter will be available to allow the public an opportunity to make verbal comments about the project.
