A Woodstock resident who served as a part-time officer with a northwest Georgia police agency is accused of taking a police department-owned weapon and selling the firearm.

Michael Conner, 52, was booked into the Polk County Jail around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday and charged with theft by taking, theft by conversion and violation of oath by a public officer, according to jail records.
According to The Polk County Standard Journal, Conner was employed as a part-time officer with the Aragon Police Department.

Mayor Ken Suffridge said the city was became aware of the missing Glock 23 while the police department was in the process of hiring a new part-time officer. The gun was allegedly reported missing and sold to a private resident, the Journal reports.
Conner was employed on a part-time basis as a training officer for the agency, and was also tasked with performing inventory on the department’s evidence room.
Records show Conner remains behind bars on a $10,100 bond.
