Pedestrian Hit By Truck On Highway 92 In Cherokee County

The 54-year-old male was trying to cross the highway when he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening.

ACWORTH, GA -- A man attempting to cross a busy highway Wednesday evening was hit by a pickup truck in southwest Cherokee County. Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 8:26 p.m. Sept. 27 the accident on Highway 92 in the area of Robin Road, which is in the Acworth area of the county.

A preliminary investigation shows 52-year-old Monte Barrett of Acworth was crossing the highway near Robin Road when he was hit by a truck driven by Anthony Astemborski, 23, also of Acworth, sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Barrett was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the collision. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk when he was hit by the truck, Sgt. Kelley added. However, the sheriff's office's Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to investigate the collision and no charges have been filed at this time.
