Police Shooting Kills Suspect After I-575 Traffic Stop In Cherokee
A suspect accused of shooting at police officers in Cherokee County has died after a traffic stop led to a police chase and shooting.
WOODSTOCK, GA — A suspect is dead after police say they fled from traffic stop and shot at officers Wednesday evening in Woodstock.
Officers stopped the suspect's vehicle around 6:45 p.m. at I-575's Exit 7, Highway 92, Woodstock Police said.
Police accused the suspect of fleeing the scene, and a chase led to the interstate's Towne Lake Parkway at Exit 8.

The person then shot at officers, and an officer shot the person, police said.
Woodstock Fire Department and Cherokee County Fire and Rescue both responded, and medical aid was rendered, police said.

The suspect, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
An officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury during the incident, police said. Their status was not immediately known.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
