Woodstock, GA -- Pigtails & Crewcuts salon is bringing its kids-centered salon concept to Woodstock.

The salon will open Jan. 29 at the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta at 881 Ridgewalk Parkway Suite 104.

The business specializes in letting kids be kids, while also giving them its namesake pigtails, crewcuts and everything in between.

Pigtails & Crewcuts salons are known for their fun airplane and automobile-shaped chairs, as well as chairs for mom, dad and older siblings. With a wooden train table and a variety of toys, books, movies and video games, children actually look forward to visiting the salon — and so do parents.

For Andrew McGehee and his wife, Julee, who have three kids ages 5 and under, the idea to open a Pigtails & Crewcuts salon came organically.

While taking their oldest son to a regular salon, Andrew found that he would get fidgety and the process became stressful for the whole family.

“It’s hard to tell a 4-year-old to keep still for 30 minutes while you’re waiting on a haircut,” Andrew said.

So when he and his wife came upon a Pigtails & Crewcuts in Roswell, they fell in love with the concept, even driving up to two hours round trip to take kids there.

The pair found that once there, their kids loved the fact that they got to sit in chairs shaped like fire engines and airplanes and that they got to go in and play.

“When my boys walk in, one goes straight for the toys and the other goes straight for the train table,” Andrew McGehee added. “My little girl just kind of wanders around. They’re very much at ease. They love that they get free reign of the place.”

With 15 years in the hospitality industry, Andrew McGehee understood the importance of great customer service and the value of the customer experience. The family quickly identified a need in the community for a quality kids salon and decided to open one themselves.

In addition to providing haircuts, hair styling and an array of hair-care products, Pigtails & Crewcuts has a party room reserved for birthday parties, dress-up parties, tea parties and other themed celebrations.
