Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed at Gunpoint in Cherokee County

The man said he was making a delivery to the Waldan Pond Apartments off Highway 92 when 3 suspects robbed him.

ACWORTH, GA -- A pizza deliver driver said he was robbed at gunpoint last week in an apartment complex west of Woodstock.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the incident, which was reported around 11:53 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Waldan Pond Apartments, which is located off Bells Ferry Road just south of Highway 92 near Acworth.

Deputies arrived on the scene and met with the victim, who said three men "knocked him to the ground, and proceeded to rob him and take his pizzas at gunpoint," according to a sheriff's office incident report.

The victim said his company, Domino's Pizza, received an order around 11:12 p.m. for pizza and wings to be delivered to the apartment complex.

The pizza delivery man arrived to drop off the food at the apartment unit, which was located on the first floor of Building 600.

As he made his way to the front door of the apartment unit, the victim said he was pushed from behind down to the ground, and one male suspect held him down and covered his mouth.

The victim told police a total of three men, who were all wearing dark clothing and masks covering their faces, surrounded him.

According to the report, the man who held the victim down said, "We don't want to hurt you. Just give us the money."

One of the men, the victim said, was holding what appeared to be a black semi-automatic firearm. The victim told the men that Domino's only allows its drivers to carry up to $10 in change, which "angered" the man holding the gun, the report adds.

"He advised that the male then kicked him in his face/nose, causing his nose to start bleeding," the report states.

The two men allegedly robbed the victim of his wallet, shoes, karate ring, belt and his car keys, along with the pizza he was set to deliver.

The only physical description the suspect provided to the police was that the suspects appeared to be black males, who all fled the scene on foot following the alleged attack.

A police K-9 was brought in to assist with the search, which turned up nothing.

Sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said detectives continue to work leads in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 928-0239.
