Property Owner Wants To Move Historic Home To Build Recording Studio

The new owner of the home at 8722 Main Street is asking for help to relocate the house to another location in or around downtown Woodstock.

A new property owner in downtown Woodstock wants to relocate a historic home to make way for his new venture.

Help is needed to relocate the house at 8722 Main Street, according to the Cherokee County Historical Society’s Facebook page.

The house, the former location of Linden, would be demolished unless it’s relocated, the organization said.

Woodstock Economic Development Director Brian Stockton said Mike Levi has acquired the property, and has plans to build a music venue and recording studio in place of the house.

Linden relocated its business to Towne Lake Parkway.

The historical society notes the house can be acquired for no cost by a party who could relocate the house to another location in or around downtown Woodstock. Additionally, there’s potential that the house possibly has asbestos and lead, and any testing and removal would be paid for by the moving party.

“Time is of the essence, so any relocation would need to take place in a timeline that works with construction schedule for the property,” the Historical Society said.

Anyone interested in relocating the house can contact Stockton at bstockton@woodstockga.gov.
