Qualifying Starts Aug. 21 For Woodstock Elections

The office of mayor and City Council Wards 1, 3 and 5 are all up for contention in the Nov. 7 election.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- Qualifying for the city of Woodstock's municipal elections will be held later this month, giving local residents a chance to formally declare their intentions to enter public service.

The election, set for Tuesday, Nov. 7, will fill the office of mayor, held by incumbent Donnie Henriques, and City Council Wards 1, 3 and 5 seats, held by Warren Johnson, Bob Mueller and Bud Leonard, respectively.

Anyone who wishes to run for these seats may qualify in the office of the city clerk at the Woodstock City Annex, which is located at 12453 Highway 92. Qualifying dates and times are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, Tuesday, Aug. 22 and Wednesday, Aug. 23 (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Those elected will serve four-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2018. The non-refundable qualifying fee is $360 for the office of mayor and $270 for the council seats. The deadline to register to vote in the election is Oct. 10. More information about that can be found on the Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration's website.
