Atlas (Rye IPA), Cadence (Belgian Dubbel) and Stark (Porter) will hit the shelves in cans early this winter. The fourth, Union (a Witbier), is scheduled to arrive in spring 2016.

Joining two beers released this October in Commons (a 22-ounce format), cans will differentiate their Anchor line from their high gravity Liberated Reserve series already in the market. Toucan, a mobile canning service, is packaging the initial cans.

Reformation Brewery CEO Spencer Nix said economies of scale, environmental impact and portability make cans an easy choice for a beverage that’s an everyday part of life.

“Today’s sixpacks have come a long way since my grandfather’s time, but they’re still the more humble package type,” he added. “Simple pleasures call for simple packages. We love our Commons, but hand-labeling and heavy glass aren’t always called for. I’d still rather fill my cooler with cans for the tailgate.”

On shelves as of last week, Reformation Brewery has also debuted a three-pack gift set to retailers as a seasonal limited release package type.

Available now at select retailers and as a free souvenir with the purchase of a special one day tour on Dec. 9, the set includes three bottles of Declaration, an Imperial Stout at 9.7 ABV.

Hand labeled and packaged in a convenient carry case, one of the three 22-ounce bottles in each set is a Bourbon Barrel Aged Declaration. Rich, roasty, with a smooth finish and balanced oak and bourbon notes, this limited release is only available as part of a gift set while supplies last.

Suitable for aging for a year or more, the trio will make a reappearance annually with vertical three packs in the coming years.
