Family, Dogs Rescued From House Fire; Woman In Critical Condition

Woodstock officials say the fire, which was reported overnight Friday, remains under investigation.

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A woman is fighting for her life after she was rescued from a house fire early Friday morning.

Crews with Woodstock Fire and Rescue, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Woodstock Police Department were all dispatched to a call of a residential fire around 12:58 a.m. Friday on Cardinal Drive.

Cardinal Drive is located off Rope Mill Road south of the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.

Officers were the first to arrive on the scene and upon seeing light smoke billowing from the structure, officer Josh Buckner entered the home to help a man in exiting the house.

Firefighters arrived at the house shortly after that rescue and learned an adult woman was still trapped inside the house.

Those firefighters entered the residence and, after a quick search, the woman was found in a back bedroom. She was removed from the house and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Three other individuals were inside the home and two of them were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.

Four dogs were also pulled from the fire, and they were taken by Cherokee County Marshal’s Office for medical treatment.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and no first responders were injured in this incident.
