“We really want this grand opening to be a community celebration,” said Club Manager Matt Potts. “Giving back is part of our DNA at Sam’s Club and we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be giving $25,000 to local nonprofits to kick off the opening of our new club.”

Sam’s Club associates selected several local nonprofit organizations to receive $25,000 in community giving grants. Grant award winners include:

  • Woodstock Public Safety Foundation
  • Must Ministries
  • YMCA
  • Papa’s Pantry
  • Anna Crawford Children’s Center
  • Boys and Girls Club
  • Woodstock High School Music Department
  • Cherokee FOCUS
  • Goshen Valley Foundation
  • Action Church
  • His Hands Church

“We are always looking for ways to get involved and support causes that are important to our associates and members,” Potts added. “For those interested in applying for future grant dollars from the club, we encourage them to apply online through the Sam’s Club Giving program.”

Last year, Sam’s Club and Walmart stores in Georgia provided over 50 million dollars in cash and in-kind donations to nonprofit organizations in the state. These donations represent community grants, food donations and associate volunteer efforts from stores, clubs and the Walmart Foundation.

To add even more excitement, Sam’s Club will host several sport celebrities for meet and greets including:

  • Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley (Thur. 1- 3 p.m.)
  • Former Atlanta Falcon and Atlanta Braves player Brian Jordan (Thur. 5 – 7 p.m.)
  • Former NFL quarterback and University of Georgia alum David Greene (Sat.11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
  • Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz (Sat. 1 – 3 p.m.)

A Sam’s Club grand opening would not be complete without lots of tasty food samples and product demonstrations. The Woodstock club will be showcasing a variety of food samples and product demonstrations including Chef Shamy gourmet butters, Berghoff Eurocast Cookware and Bamboo Pillows to name a few.

The new Sam’s Club features a shopper-friendly interior layout and measures roughly 134,000 square feet. Members can rely on fresh produce, quality meats, and home meal solutions among the huge selection of merchandise. The club also boasts an array of service offerings for its members.

In addition to the pharmacy, the club also features an Optical Department and Hearing Aid Center. Members can find services tailored to their business needs such as credit card payment processing, mobile payroll and legal services. Membership also includes special savings on vacation planning through Sam’s Club Travel.
