Scooter Crash Kills Woodstock Man In California
Christopher Conti, 53, of Woodstock, has died after he was involved in a deadly scooter crash, the first in San Diego, California.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- A Woodstock man has died after he was involved in a deadly scooter crash, which was the first fatal crash of its kind in San Diego, California.
Christopher Conti, 53 of Woodstock, was riding on a sidewalk off around 10 p.m. on March 13 when he turned, lost control of the scooter and crashed into a tree, San Diego Police Sgt. Victoria Houseman told NEWS 8.
Conti, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on March 16, Houseman told NEWS 8.

"This is the first known fatality in the city of San Diego involving a scooter," Houseman told NEWS 8.
According to family members, Conti was in San Diego on business, the station said. He was the owner of Innovative Fitness Solutions and there was a fitness conference taking place in San Diego during the time of his visit.

Closer to home, the City of Atlanta is coming up with its own solution to track scooter-related injuries to determine whether better safety requirements are needed, 11 Alive reported.
