Scrooge was texting and driving at 2 AM last month and hit our brick mailbox and killed it. The SUV flipped over, the police came, the SUV was towed and this is what we were left with! The mailbox WAS 4.5' Tall and 4.5' long, 2.5' wide with a nice planter. See the picture below of the dead brick mailbox.
The police gave Tony the police report. So, we waited to hear from our neighbor "Scrooge" who drives past our dead mailbox everyday, a few times. Did they do the right thing? Nope.....
Frustrated, we called the insurance company listed on the police report. They weren't aware of the accident and told us they have to contact the insured. Weeks go by and we hear nothing. We are not receiving mail regulalrly and we're not happy. We called the insurance company and are told they can't do anything until they speak with their insured again. We continue to persist and get a check from Liberty Mutual for less than a third of the estimates we had received to rebuild the mailbox. Ugh....
In the midst of all of the frustration, Santa came to our house and left us a Golden Retriever mailbox! Santa is a local artisan and can make you one for your house too, any breed, even horses! We have a Lab/Dachshund displayed at the store (The Dogma Natural Pet Market 8420 Main St. Downtown Woodstock, GA).
