Shift Commander Receives Letter of Commendation

From Cherokee Fire:Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Shift Commander, Ryan McElwee, recently received a Letter of Commendation today from Cherokee County Fire Chief, Tim Prather, for recently receiving his Fire Chief Certification at the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs Spring Executive Session in Savannah, GA.

According to Chief Prather, “McElwee is the first in the ranks of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services to obtain this achievement. He has demonstrated the professionalism and dedication it takes to continue pursuit of a very successful career. Through his dedicated efforts, McElwee has set the example of other offices in this organization to follow as well, to include myself.” In order for an applicant to receive the certification, they must meet four pre-requisites including holding a Georgia Firefighter Stands and Training Council State Certification in at least one of the current fire service certifications and serve as a minimum of a Battalion Chief or Division Supervisor. McElwee has been working toward this certification since January of 2016.”

“To date there have only been 95 of these certifications awarded,” stated McElwee.
